Freshly evicted and unemployed, Cory, in his thirties, and his pregnant wife Jasmine have no choice but to move back into his childhood home—just until they get back on their feet, of course. But this temporary solution gradually transforms into a suffocating occupation for Cory's baby-boom parents, with absurd and grotesque consequences. Cory is determined to prove he can assert himself as "head of the household"—even if the house isn't his. Both biting and farcical, "Birthright" offers an offbeat look at privilege, the housing crisis, and a disillusioned generation.

Zoe Pepper

A graduate of the Sydney Film School (AFTRS), Australian Zoe Pepper is a screenwriter, director, and theatre director. She has directed several short films and web series, including "The Big Spaghetti." Filmed in Western Australia, "Birthright" is her first feature film. It was financed through the West Coast Visions initiative created by Screenwest.
