In Paris, an American mercenary called David Martin is hired by a mysterious client. His mission: to get to Australia and capture a Tasmanian tiger, a species considered extinct, but eagerly sought by a biotech empire. In the wilderness of Tasmania, Martin lodges with Lucy Armstrong, a mother of two young children, whose husband had disappeared whilst pursuing the same rare feline. Martin divides his time between the forest, where he tries to entrap the animal, and Lucy's house, and gradually finds himself growing attached to Lucy and her children. However, he soon realizes his trail is being followed, and that the disappearance of Lucy's husband is perhaps not a simple accident.
